Raymix – Mexican Singer/Producer with new Latin Style Music Electrocumbia is reborn “Oye Mujer”
Raymix is the electro cumbia recording and performing project founded by DJ, entrepreneur, producer, singer, and songwriter – and former NASA-trained aerospace engineer — Edmundo Gómez Moreno. His time studying at the agency provided inspiration for his sound, that mixes several Latin genres with state of the art electronics to create a trademark style musically and visually.
He burst onto the scene in September of 2015 with the smash single “Oye Mujer,” that wove together classic cumbia and various elements of Latin pop, reggaeton, and various Mexican, Puerto Rican, urban, and even Arabic styles — he subtitled the single “Latin Stylish Music.” Its video, showing only Moreno singing, dancing, and playing all the instruments, ran up over 250 million views within a couple of months of release. The single reached the Top 20 of the Hot Latin Songs charts, earning Moreno the title “King of Electro Cumbia.” Live, his troupe can number anywhere from six to ten members with a core of dancers as well as musicians. Subsequent videos for three singles the following year — “Angel Movado,” “Primer Beso,” and “Dime Amor” — ran up hundreds of millions of views and charted on streaming and download services pushing his totals to just north of half-a-billion total views of his recordings on his YouTube channel. The “electro remix” video of the latter track, featuring TwinRush and Alpha Force, racked up 28 million views all on its own. Raymix’s 2017 pre-release single, “Perdoname,” showcased a more driving cumbia sound and placed on Latin charts across multiple streaming services. His debut album, also entitled Oye Mujer, was issued in July. It has continued to sell as Raymix’s profile grows due to his live performances and the emergence of electro cumbia as a genre.
