Sports is the Oklahoma-born band formed by lifelong friends Christian Theriot and Cale Chronister, who met as kids and instinctively bonded over music. They struck gold early with the viral success of “You Are The Right One,” an indie pop anthem that now boasts over 180 million streams on Spotify. Raised in Tulsa, far from the major music hubs, the duo credit their small-town roots for shaping their underdog mentality and tight-knit creative partnership.
After four albums working with producer Chad Copelin, Sports took a leap into full creative control for their latest project — a self-titled, self-produced, and self-recorded record made entirely in a studio they built in Tulsa. With Astroturf floors and ambient city noise seeping into the mix, the album captures a raw, immersive energy. Tracks like “If You Want Me” and “Nice To Meet Myself (Bang Bang Bang)” reflect themes of personal growth, creative maturity, and emotional honesty, anchored by the duo’s signature synth-laced, hook-driven sound.
Throughout the process, Sports embraced fan connection via Twitch livestreams, sharing works-in-progress and songwriting in real time. Whether experimenting with pop structures on “Jelly” or exploring vulnerability on “Keep Falling In Love,” the record marks a full-circle moment for the band — honoring their past while boldly stepping into a new chapter. “To me,” Christian says, “we’re just getting started.”
